When we finally sat down to negotiate the contract at the office, the atmosphere was friendly and cosy. We successfully closed the deal, and Mr. Yared even recommended we celebrate with dinner next week. I immediately offered to book a table, making a mental note to double-check my wallet this time! I knew then that this was the start of a very productive partnership."
(Words used: relaxed, negotiate, cosy, recommended, book)
Mr. Yard and I ended our evening in a good mood. It didn't feel like business negotiations, more like a friendly get-together. A while later, Mr. Yard and I spoke on the phone, and he remembered that evening at the restaurant when I forgot my wallet and credit card. He called to clarify some details about the contract. After a few minutes of conversation, we discussed the details of the contract signing meeting, and everything was fine with us. Perhaps that awkward situation in the restaurant had a positive impact on the outcome of the deal, as it put us at ease. Mr. Yard turned out to be a very positive and pleasant person; it was a pleasure doing business with him

The shared laughter over the forgotten wallet and the fortunate connection transformed our professional dynamic entirely. From that day forward, Mr. Yared was no longer just a business contact; he became a friend. Our partnership flourished, and every time he visited, we always made sure to book the same table with the view, and he would often recommend we try new dishes from the seasonal menu. On his last visit, he even insisted on paying the bill, reminder of our first, unforgettable lunch.

Word of the incident certainly spread around the office. To my relief, the gossip was positive. The Marketing Director himself stopped by my desk, looking amused. "My wife called me right after you left," he said.
ОтветитьУдалить"She said the way you handled the forgotten wallet was both efficient and charming. She also recommended the stuffed mushrooms to me, saying they were delicious." He explained that our guest, Mr. Yared, had emailed him personally, praising the relaxed and entertaining lunch. He concluded,
"Sometimes, the best way to negotiate a contract is to not talk about it too much.
Well done." My minor horror story had turned into a major success.

As we left the restaurant, still chuckling about the unexpected twist, I felt a newfound ease between Mr. Yared and me. When we settled down to negotiate the contract at the office, the atmosphere was surprisingly relaxed. We discussed the terms with a variety of ideas flowing back and forth, each suggestion more delicious than the last. Mr. Yared even joked about my wallet mishap, saying it was a great icebreaker. By the end of our meeting, we had not only finalized the contract but also decided to entertain the idea of collaborating on future projects. It was clear that this was just the beginning of a fruitful partnership.

The meeting with Mr. Yared ended on a positive note. It seems that this awkward situation only brought us closer, and communication in the future acquired a more cosy atmosphere. This allowed me to relax at the next meeting with Mr. Yared, where we planned to discuss the details of the contract. Still, I wanted to apologise for that incident and for a change recommend him to try an insanely delicious dessert in a place with a varied menu.

After the embarrassing lunch, I thought Mr. Yared would never want to negotiate with me again. But to my surprise, he called the next day to apologise for overreacting and even invited me to another meal — this time at a small, cosy Italian restaurant he personally recommended. The menu offered a delightful variety of dishes, and the atmosphere helped us both relax. Over delicious pasta and laughter about our first meeting, we finally found common ground and signed the contract that had caused all the tension. From that day on, our partnership grew stronger — not just in business, but in friendship too. Mr. Yared even joked that every deal should begin with a “comedy of errors.”
