  4. 1. Let’s start from good points. First of all, outsider can bring something new for a business. And many problems in it, that family members didn’t notice, may be discovered by person from outside. Also that person will be interested only in business, so your family won’t be ruined because of disagreements in working part of your life.

    On the other hand outsider may not know about some family’s traditional ways of running business, so it can create controversy between co-owners. As practice shows, older people don’t like innovations, new problem solving methods, etc., because it seems unknown for them. So it also can be the reason of conflict or misunderstanding between family owners and outsider.

    2. Yandex N.V. is Russian company with really good and comfortable working conditions. You can work from home, there’re a lot of posts in different subsidiaries of Yandex company and it provides career growth too. You can also buy its shares while working in this company and became a shareholder. But, unfortunately, I can’t say that this company has exactly the same employee relations policy as the John Lewis has. But it still is very successful in Russia.

    Firstly, it can add fresh mind to a company and open "the second wind" which means that there would be new great ideas and plans that could significantly improve a position of an enterprise.
    Secondly, such a step can make a company much more multinational than it was before because people all over the world will be sure that the company doesn't serve the interests of just one country.
    On the other hand, the drawbacks may also appear. Personally, I think that it's very very risky to delegate authority to a person from outside because company can just not live through those changes. Furthermore, we have to make sure that new chairman doesn't have some insidious plan which is gonna destroy company or ruin lives of employees.

    2. In Russia, I don't know a company which is exactly like John Lewis. So I go with a marketplace called Wildberries. It doesn't own products, it just provide businessmen with the place to sell it. This is more like AliExpress if compare to overseas countries. And "thanks" to the coronavirus pandemic situation and recent sanctions this company has already increased its profit to enormous number and still has more and more opportunities for improvement. To be clear, the founder of Wildberries , Tatyana Bakalchuk, has become the woman with biggest fortune in Russia(2021) which was estimated at 13 billion dollars. During 2021 it grew by 1000%!

  10. 1.It's neither good or bad. I assume you are the owner and maybe you have other family members that own it with you. I believe your responsibility is to help find the best leadership you can find to manage the company, whether that is within your family or outside the family.
    One of the first things to ask is what are your goals for the company? Will it remain a smaller, lifestyle business or do you want it to grow into a larger company that might support many family member's financial needs?
    Statistically there are many more qualified leaders outside your family so that can often be an easier solution at times. The challenge is to wade through all the people who will want the job and separating the real leaders from the fakes. Plus you have the people for who your job is merely a stepping stone to their next bigger job or starting their own business, which means you have to repeat the process over and over again.
    Then there are the pros of having a family member manage the company. As a person who worked for my family business for 40 years and ran it for much of that time, I'll tell you the advantages of that arrangement.
    As I grew up the business was always part of our family life, there was continuous talk about the products, the customers and the problems. I knew a hell of a lot about the business before I even joined it. I knew I was expected to run the place even at maybe 7 years old and spent a lot of childhood time at the company. You can't buy that kind of training.

    2.As far as I know, there are no such large stores as John Lewis in Russia.
    But there are a lot of other companies, which are very successful in different spheres. For example MAGNIT is the biggest grocery storn in Russia. Galitsky opened this store. In a short period of time, he brought him to a leading position in Russia. However, it has become unprofitable for the state that the income from the largest store goes into one hand. In 2017, the state bought the Magnet and it became owned by VTB.
