Healthy Food

Food is one of the basics for good health. Nowadays our life is very busy, so many people don’t pay enough attention to their diet.
During breaks they usually prefer having  such food as: chips, burgers, French fries or biscuits, sweet coffee, juice or fizzy drinks. This food is really unhealthy: it contains a lot of sugar, salt and fat. They make people become fatter. You can eat these meals rarely if you want to stay healthy.
Doctors recommend sticking to a balanced diet. It means that foods from each food group have to be in right proportions.
 There is some useful advice:
• First of all, you have to cut down on fat and sugar.  Different sugary snacks and candies and foods with saturated fats are the reasons for health problems.
• It will be great if you eat a lot of vegetables.
 You can eat them raw for a snack (for example, cucumbers, carrot or tomatoes) or as a part of everyday meal. They help to protect from cancer and other diseases. There are many ways to cook vegetables:  you can grate them and make salads with olive oil, boil them, bake with cheese or steam.
• Don’t skip breakfast – this meal is the most important one for us. You have to get energy and vitamins from food to power up your day. That’s why the best food for breakfast is: wholemeal bread, yogurt, eggs or fruits. Choose green tea for drinking, because it helps you feel upbeat.
• It is important to drink a lot of water as it keeps every system in the body functioning properly. For healthy individuals, the average daily water for men is about 15.5 cups and for women about 11.5 cups.
• Try to eat less fried food.
 For example, grilled meat with spices and sauce is very delicious but it is really unhealthy. Change your habits and begin to eat baked meat with less salt. It is tasty and tender. Chicken and veal meat contain low fat that’s why it is healthy. And of course, you shouldn’t forget about fish. It tastes really unforgettable if it is steamed with vegetables and lemon juice.
• Dairy foods are also important for us – they’re a source of calcium which is useful for bones and teeth. To get this mineral you have to eat cheese, butter and eggs, to drink milk. 
Of course diets are different: they depend on your body and your aims. But if you want to be healthy and keep fit – remember these simple rules.
